Caitlin's Cadillac Man - Ready for a New Family (Placed/August 2011 in NY)

posted by Denise Chasin at 2011-07-29 21:22:33

Caitlin's Cadillac Man is a 36 inch paint gelding that is part of our Personal Ponies program for the past 20 years.  "Caddy" is currently in Massachusetts with the Shea Family where he has been a constant companion for the past ten years for their daughter Brielle.  In Mr. Shea's own words,

"My daughter Brielle has had the good fortune of having a Personal Pony for quite awhile. Cadillac (Caitlin’s Cadillac Man) has been one of her best friends for more than ten years and played a part in her introduction to equestrian sports. Now Brielle is in college and on the equestrian team and ready to pass Caddy onto to another deserving child so he can brighten up their life. She’s very much attached to Caddy and couldn’t bring herself to write this e:mail, so she asked me to do it.

Please let us know what we can do to help transition Caddy to his next caretaker? He’s been well cared for and all of his shots are up to date. I am glad to arrange and pay for transportation and if possible it would be great if Brielle could be involved in the hand off so she can feel good about Caddy’s new home.

Brielle was born with a severe facial cleft and spent a lot of time in the hospital as a child. She’s had 17+ surgeries (many of them major surgeries) to reconstruct one side of her face and she always looked forward to coming home and loving her mini.  I believe she was 5 or 6 years old when Caddy joined the family; she’ll be 19 in a couple of weeks and Brielle understands that Caddy has completed his mission with her. It’s time for him to work his magic with another child. With Caddy’s help she’s grown into a beautiful young woman. She’s an excellent student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a member of their equestrian team."

Below are some pictures of Brielle with Caddy over the years.  Mr. Shea said that when Brielle was small she would compete with Caddy at pony shows and later on when she began competing with her Paint, Caddy would come along for the ride. He is very sweet and loves attention and would be great with community work.  If you would like, to learn more about Caddy, please email us at
